Runway Visitor Park
A proper viewing facility with mounds, a café, parking and preserved aircraft including Concorde G-BOAC, a Trident and a Nimrod. Views over 23R/05L and the taxiways — the easiest good spotting in Britain and the right place to bring someone who is not a spotter.

- Sunbank Lane, Altrincham WA15 8XQ. Paid parking on site (hourly). Bus 200 from the airport terminals, or a 25-minute walk from Manchester Airport station.
- Best time
- Afternoon and evening for westerly operations; the mounds give enough elevation that light is manageable most of the day.
- Lens
- 70–300 mm covers most of it; 400 mm for the far taxiway.
Airport Hotel pub / Ringway Road
Traditional spot near the 23R threshold with aircraft close overhead on final, and a pub garden behind you. The Manchester equivalent of Myrtle Avenue, if smaller.

- Ringway Road, Wythenshawe M90. Limited roadside parking; the pub has its own car park for customers.

- Westerly landings (23R), late afternoon light behind you.

Terminal 2 / 05R side viewing
The second runway sees departures at busy periods and gives a different angle from the visitor park — worth the move when both runways are in use.

The long-haul layer is what makes Manchester special outside London: Emirates A380 (multiple daily), Etihad and Qatar 787s and 777s, Singapore, Virgin Atlantic A330s and A350s, plus seasonal North American services. Cargo is genuinely good — regular 737 and A300 freighters, and the occasional heavy charter.
