Besucherterrasse (Terminal 2)
Frankfurt's official visitor terrace looks out over the apron and taxiways. Paid entry with a security check, but it is legal, comfortable and open in any weather — the place to start at Germany's busiest airport.

- Terminal 2, level 3. S-Bahn S8/S9 to Frankfurt Flughafen Regionalbahnhof, then the Sky Line shuttle.
- Best time
- Afternoon and evening; the terrace faces the apron, so light is more forgiving than at the fence.

- 70–300 mm; the fence height suits a monopod.
Zeppelinheim / southern approach (07L/25R)
The classic Frankfurt approach spot south-east of the airport, where long-haul arrivals pass low over the woods. A380s and 747s here are the images people come for.

- Zeppelinheim, reachable by S-Bahn S7 to Zeppelinheim and a short walk, or by car with roadside parking on the edge of the village.
- Best time
- Westerly landings (25R). Afternoon puts the sun behind you; mornings are backlit.

Runway 18 West / cargo side
The departure-only runway 18 and the cargo apron give a different Frankfurt: freighters, the occasional AN-124 and far fewer people than on the passenger side.

- Perimeter roads west of the airport near the cargo city; car recommended, public transport is thin here.
- Best time
- Departure banks; the 18 is used mostly in southerly flow.
